It's party time, P.A.R.T.WHY? Because we want to. What was your idea of a cool/fun party as a child?

Birthdays Christmas whatever. You may of course not have been a party person. For those of us who can remember any, which were the most fun & what did they entail? I’m a nosey bonk & i’m all ears.

Running around, beating my friends with sticks. I was a mean kid.

A swimming pool and pinata make a great party for little ones. Those were always my favorite.

Climbing/sneaking into an old, abandoned summer cottage and “camping out” with my friends. Drinking, lit candles all around, and making out with Kevin W.

The house was falling apart (it was on a slant because the foundation was shit) and there were holes in the rotten floor boards. We were idiots.

(as a teen)

We used to have our whole family get together for every birthday and any other special occasion. In the summer, Dad would cook on our outdoor barbecue (the old fashion brick kind) and in the winter, we would sit around the fireplace in our family room while Mom and the Aunts made fried chicken.

Aunt B would play the piano, and we would all sing, and maybe toast marshmallows. I loved all of us being there and talking, the kids playing board games and just feeling good.

I am thinking climbing trees and running around the forest had to be part of it.

My birthday is in August, so my birthdays were always during the hot summer days and a party by the poolside was my idea of fun as a kid (of course there had to ample watermelon). Almost every birthday party I had as a kid was a pool party. Of course, it being the same day as my parents’ anniversary always made things interesting… :)

I always had BBQ/pool parties for my birthday. We always had my friends and my family come and there was really no ending time. Everyone would just leave whenever they wanted to.

Six Flags! That’s where I celebrated my 12th birthday with my friends. Back then, it was called Marriott’s Great America. The only thing that would’ve made that day the absolute best those days would’ve been to have a concert at about 6pm featuring a double bill of Hall& Oates and Duran Duran, with Daryl Hall and John Taylor giving me a kiss on the cheek or something. Neither of which, of course, was in the cards.

Parties as a kid were a mosh pit as we always combined 3–4 other birthdays so it was wall to wall kids of all ages which meant the younger kids got wedgies, swirlies and ditched. Many a tear were shed at our parties!

Back when the Model T came out, only girls had parties. I never saw a boy at a party. No hot food, just cake, candles and ice cream at a house. Once I discovered a treat: I stuck pretzel sticks in the ice cream and ate them like that . We also had pointy hats and noise makers and everyone brought a wrapped gift. Then we played Pin the Tail and left . No big production back then and No Jeans or Shorts. Just ruffly dresses. I have a photo w/a friend on yahoo in said dresses w/a gift. but don’t know how to do a link on fluther.

As long as there’s plenty of cake, how bad can a party be?

Just kidding.

I didn’t go to many parties, i wasn’t, and still am not, a big group activity type of person.

But 2 games that i liked playing was Pass the Parcel, where you have a gift wrapped up in many layers of newspaper or gift wrap, and you’d sit in a circle and someone had to play music. While the music plays the parcel gets passed around and when it stops, the one who’s holding it inwraps one layer. So whoever unwraps the last paper gets the gift.

Also, there’s one where you’re given a clue as to where to go look for the next clue. There’d be several of these clues everwhere sending you to the next clue, and in the end you’d find the big prize somewhere by following the last clue.
