Can I fix my iPod?

Asked by silverfly (4055points) June 23rd, 2010

I have an iPod mini (one of the newer, short, fat ones) and it broke on me while running the other day. I had it stuffed into the elastic of my shorts and I guess it either overheated or got too much moisture from my sweat. In any case, I took it out after about 3 miles and the music was still playing, the screen was glowing, but completely blank. Now, it just doesn’t seem to work at all.

Any suggestions?

Put it in a bowl of dry rice to draw out moisture. If that doesn’t work, I dunno what to tell you.

I have resurrected an iPod with the dry rice. But you have to leave it in for a few days and not mess with it.

I also saved my headphones after washing them with my clothes the same way.

Here and here you’ll find some how-to’s.

Thanks. Apple support is pretty detailed… I’m hoping I can resurrect it now.
