This is really embarassing. But how do I change the temperature on the thermostat in my house?

i’m in high school and my parents are out of town for a few days and i’ve never had to mess with the thermostat while they were home. it says that its currently 88 degrees! whenever i push the “down arrow”, it moves the temperature down to 74, but then the screen returns to 88 after a few seconds. i don’t want to mess with it too much, because i’m afraid of screwing up the settings and sticking my parents with a bigger electric bill…but i gotta figure out how to change this thermostat, i’m sweating in here!

if it helps it’s made by Honeywell and seems to be an older model. I know this question is a longshot but if anyone has any tips (i don’t know if most thermastats are the same or not) i would really appreciate it.
