Does anyone know of any good movie/TV streaming sites?

Asked by SmashTheState (14245points) July 1st, 2010

After the crackdown today, the two sites I mostly used, TVShack and watch-movies seem to have disappeared. It’s still easy to find mainstream blockbusters, but I have little interest in the garbage which emits from Hollywood. I’m looking mainly for sites with lots of international films and documentaries, particularly National Geographic shows and specials. Anyone got any suggestions for sites which haven’t been crushed under The Man’s boot yet?

www.stagevu.com It also works on a PS3 if you have one , I download my films to the PS3 from that site . It has old movies and current ones , even movies that are just or not yet released in cinema .
I would even say it has what you are looking for if you just spend a little time searching .

surfthechannel.com and alluc are both indexes for streaming videos – the actual content is generally hosted at youku, tudou, megavideo, 56.com, etc but since almost all but megavideo are asian websites it saves you from having to navigate in chinese.

www.casttv.com is great for tv shows

@vbabe96 I’ve found that casttv only links me to either sites that require payments, scam surveys, or the broadcasting channel website – is that just me or is that everywhere?

@papayalily Yea it does the same for me…..

It used to do that to me but then I figured out the trick. You type a show in the search bar and let it finish the show title for you. This will take you to the episode listing.

I use Hulu. Content changes and there are brief commercials on TV shows, so it’s not 100%, but it’s something. (I augment with netflix; it’s not free but it’s cheaper than cable.)

www.graboid.com

Reportedly has the largest selection of any site of this type.

They do both streaming and download. Their is a free option with a limit of 4Gb per month.

If you check on some forums, there is also a workaround where you can keep signing up for a new account.

It’s also been certified by both McAffee and Norton as being malware free.

You can either download the program from their site or from CNet’s site download.com.

They have a reputation for being very particular about files hosted on their site and check them for viruses, spyware and adware.
