Are there any Facebook games and/or apps that would be somewhat worth my time?

Asked by ChocolateReigns (5624points) July 5th, 2010

I’d like to have something fun, interesting, and wouldn’t be a complete waste of time. I used to play Farmville and all that, but it’s such a scam, such a stupid waste of time. So yeah, none of that kind of stuff. What do you like to play/do on Facebook?

Much to my family and some friends disappointment, I’ve only been playing Bejeweled Blitz and Happy Island. And I’ll only be doing Happy Island until it tells me I need to have more “neighbors” for something.

as my name states I am addicted to FB. I play all the cheesy games but have found a few that I think are worth your time. Dream Life is an investment and purchasing game. Dream Life let you become a billionaire and live the good life! I like Mafia Wars too.

I hate to admit it, but I’m a Mafia Wars player myself. I don’t know if it qualifies as “worth my time,” though.

I just started playing Family Feud on FB, but it has it’s limits (you can only play so many games a day). So, it won’t be very time consuming.

All of the other games I use to play have become boring. At least with Family Feud, the questions change.

MindJolt has lots of games that you can play. Less “app” type stuff and more traditional style computer games. Along those lines I also like to play bejeweled blitz and collapse. I’ve tried a ton of apps, and I liked a lot of them, but they were all very short lived. What did you like about farmville? What didn’t you like? Maybe I could make some suggestions based on that.

@TheOnlyNeffie I liked the whole being able to do whatever you want to a farm and all that. But it’s the same with all virtual world/pet games…It gets boring. They add new stuff all the time, sure, but it’s always the same type of thing. So I’ve decided to just give up on the virtual stuff. Unless you know of a good one that wouldn’t be as stupid?

I don’t, sorry. They really are all the same once you peel back the specifics. If you want to play actual games to kill time, MindJolt is a good one for that.. tons to choose from. Also maybe look up Music Challenge or Collapse.

Once I realized that all those Zynga games are the same, that your reward for playing it longer and longer is to play it less and less (buying a tractor to save your time farming, etc) that you pay real life money (or even worse, time) and get zero real life rewards, I immediately gave them all up. I do not regret this for one minute. Ironically I became a real life farmer which took the appeal right out of playing that stupid game where you put your time and energy (and money if you’re dumb enough) and get absolutely nothing in return. The only reason I use Facebook is to keep connected with my friends and to share my real life adventures. In that respect, Facebook is one of the most valuable tools I’ve ever encountered.

@dynamicduo I couldn’t have said it better myself. That’s the exact reason I gave up on pretty much all fb games.

Yeah, the farm games are pretty silly. You plant rows of coffee and cranberry trees. Wtf?

Ooh! There’s this word game that i like playing, it’s called Word Challenge. Basically you get a few random letters and then you must make as many words out of them as possible, and also try to figure out the longest word using all the lettes. It’s nothing new, but i like those kinds of games. :)
