Paypal ! How have I offended THEE!?!?!?

Asked by Bri_L (12219points) March 19th, 2008

I had an account with a cc in good standing perfect credit. they sent a request to accept updated policies to an email account I no longer frequently checked and had not yet updated. Having not accepted the new policy they suspended my account.

Their own flawed instructions told you to lift the suspension just read and accept the new policy. You could read it but there was no where on the site to accept or indicate accpetance. I spent 45 min. on the phone on hold 3 times trying to get to a person but to no avail.

I just now went up to see if I couldn’t try and find something i missed because they are the default for Ebay and found the following “This account has been permanently locked with a $0.00 USD balance. All information associated with this account has been blocked from the PayPal system and cannot be registered with another account”.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I should have mentioned in my original description the 6 unansered and 2 brush off emails I received leaving me lukewarm on “clicking on the link in email”? but thanks for the help and the um.

Well, both PayPal and eBay have their detractors. In my limited experience, they appear to keep operating costs down by having practically no customer service. When a problem comes up with a person or account, the simplest/cheapest solution for them is to simply turn it off… there’s no concept of problem resolution for the customer. Just making it go away so they don’t have to deal with it.

But what I was worried about for you in my original quip was the common phishing practice of emails that spoof PayPal’s look&feel. If you were the victim of such a scam, and PayPal then later determined your account to have been compromised, I could easily see them turning it off. And, as described above, I expect it will be nigh impossible for you to get it fixed.

In short, PayPal is likely okay with not having your business. :-\

@ robmandu – thanks for the answer. I am a bit touchy lately. My apologies without reserve for taking your quip so off.

Thanks for the info also. I guess, absent using an Ebay store or just setting one of the other ways. I will have to look elsewhere.

Thanks again.

I have had the same problems with PayPal. Their instructions are faulty and confusing and their customer service is a nightmare. I wish so many vendors didn’t use them, because I have had nothing but problems – despite following instructions to the letter.
