"My goodness... I had a whole (package) of [blank] and before I knew it, I'd eaten the whole thing in one sitting!" What's your [blank]?

Asked by poofandmook (17320points) July 10th, 2010

I think all of us have done it at one point: We buy or make some food item that we can’t resist, and somehow manage to scarf the whole bag/box/pan/what-have-you all down in a single sitting.

What was the last thing you remember losing yourself over?

for me, it was Fig Newtons. Totally random… I never eat them.

A packet of chips (crisps). A slab of chocolate. My mashed potato. Actually, most snack foods if i find them tasty. The people who know me well know that snacks won’t last long at any family gathering. Hehe.

Pinwheels from Nabisco.

If you have not had one…...don’t! i told my wife i was afraid they might melt in the heat.

They are addictive.

Almond toffee. I swear to God, that stuff is like Darth Vader telling me to come over to the dark side, except instead of me being dedicated to the light side, I do whatever Darth Toffee tells me to do.

ROFL Darth Toffee

Crisps, mini Mars bars (or Bounty, Snickers, Milky Way, Lion), peanuts, biscuits, cookies, licorice, vanilla ice cream, well…, anything edible actually.

Ha ha – I did this years and year ago when I was at uni with a bag of prunes. I’d only meant to have three and ate the whole bag whilst watching a gripping movie. I was NOT well afterwards… Eek…

1 lb. box of See’s Candies
or
5 oz. box of licorice (the real kind, black licorice, not red)

jrpowell's avatar

Sour cream and onion Pringles.

vbabe96's avatar

Entenmann’s Pop’ems. Give me a glass of milk and a box of those and they are gone within minutes.

Pint of Ben and Jerry’s Americone Dream/Vermonty Python/Heath Bar Crunch

poofandmook's avatar

@aprilsimnel: mmm I love Americone Dream. I like Phish Food even better, and I have NO issues polishing off a pint of Phish Food.

A sleeve of digestive biscuits.

janbb's avatar

Wise potato chips (I try to buy small bags!)

gailcalled's avatar

Bag of organic peanuts in the shell. I figure that I am using a lot of calories to shell the nuts and then to vacuum up the mess.

Seek's avatar

Girl Scout cookies. Particularly Thin Mints and Samoas. Oh, gods… the Samoas…

I swear they drug those things.

Berserker's avatar

Crab meat. I love that stuff, but I don’t buy it often because it’s pricey. Still, two or so weeks ago I got a pack of it and it didn’t last three hours.

janbb's avatar

@janbb wants Thin Mints now.

Seaofclouds's avatar

Oreos, the whole package. It’s been a few years since I’ve done it though. Now I grab a few out of the package and put it away to control myself.

poofandmook's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr: Have you tried the Samoas ice cream? GOODNESS GRACIOUS.

ucme's avatar

Cheesy Poofs. The curse of the orange finger.

casheroo's avatar

Oreos. ½ sheet cake (I ate most of it.), any form of ice cream (usually cookies & cream)

I have a sweet tooth.

jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities's avatar

Hot & Spicy Cheez-its. Yeah. It’s completely worth the inevitable heartburn.

MissCupid's avatar

I’m almost through a tube of zesty lime and chilli pringles right now! YUM!

wilma's avatar

A can of Pringles, a bag of Twizzlers, a box of Girl Scout cookies, or most any kind of good cookies.

Mtl_zack's avatar

Mini Ritz with cheese. In rez I pigged out on them.

tinyfaery's avatar

Red Vines. There are never any left after the movie.

Sour Patch Kids. And the M&M Trail Mix from the local produce store.

stranger_in_a_strange_land's avatar

Shrimp or crab meat. I have to be careful that it doesn’t “disappear” before it goes into the dish I’m preparing. I usually buy twice what it needed to cover that. I’ll have to start buying three times as much, now that J is following my lead (grazing while cooking).

Aster's avatar

Those blasted Hersheys With Almonds-the huge bars. I have a tv show on. I peel back just a little bit of the foil and take a bite. I let it melt. Next , I peel it back again and take anot….you get the idea.
DARN IT ALL !!

filmfann's avatar

A bag of Mother’s Iced Raisin Cookies.

sadly, they don’t make them any more

AstroChuck's avatar

@filmfann- Great answer!
Sounds like an answer I once gave on another thread. Or was it a question?

knitfroggy's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr Have you seen the Keebler knock offs of Samoa’s? They are not quite as good as a real Samoa, but they are darn close!

I can eat a whole tube of Ritz crackers. I love those damn things.

Dr_Lawrence's avatar

Cream cheese danish pastries.

poofandmook's avatar

@knitfroggy: Oooh, me too. I’m ashamed to admit that cheese-in-a-can from the fridge makes it even better :x

knitfroggy's avatar

@poofandmook yes, I could eat a whole can of cheese too! That stuff cannot be made of anything that’s really good for you, but it’s so good!

J0E's avatar

I can make a bag of any type of chip disappear if you give me some sour cream to dip it in.

kenmc's avatar

Fig newtons

casheroo's avatar

@boots That’s just like my husband. I found a box half eaten under our bed a couple weeks ago. lol

poofandmook's avatar

I’m all for the Fig Newtons. Damned addictive little buggers.

BeeVomit's avatar

Artichoke dip, specialty cheeses, BBQ TriTip or whole roasted chicken. Mangoes, Ben’n’Jerry’s, and oranges.. I can go on and on.. I chug coffee, too.

Oh yes… Guacamole!

BeeVomit's avatar

I got a question for you folks… which of your habitual consumption foods are those which you will not buy, support, or endorse to others, and why?

As in, I despise Lay’s Potato Chips (greasy buggers!) but I may still find myself eating a half bag before I come to my senses. I dislike Arizona teas, but I’ll chug one without thinking..

talljasperman's avatar

Red salted Pistachios. Home made granola bars. Two liter bottle of pop.
