Astrological Question: What will be the effect of the solar eclipse with New Moon in Cancer? (Details follow.)

Asked by DarlingRhadamanthus (11273points) July 10th, 2010

I know there will be a solar eclipse, New Moon in Cancer. How is one affected generally——and then specifically if the Moon in your chart is in the sign of Cancer? (Six degrees of Cancer to be specific.)

Any information would be most appreciated.

Taken from here.

cancer- week of 7/5–7/12
with both the the eclipses and the nodes in your sign and your polar opposite sign of capricorn, you have been most activated (along with capricorn) by the major shifts and changes brought in by the eclipse portal. endings in significant relationships- either completely or endings of patterns that have played themselves out- have occurred in order to clear you out for the new that wants to come into your life. on saturday the solar eclipse is conjunct juno, the goddess of commitment and marriage, bringing powerful new beginnings in which you are asked to commit to yourself mind, body and Soul. this is a time to honestly assess who you are, where you are going, and take responsibility for your life. it’s time to own your power! get ready to step up and shine your Light. no hiding it anymore!

[I like to study astrology. I read a lot of astrological books and blogs and such. To be more specific on how it will affect you, we would need to know which house your cancer moon was in. I chose to display the cancer horoscope, because of your cancer moon. You can go to the link and read for your regular sign and for your rising sign, if you know it. I find reading the horoscope for my rising sign to be much more accurate.]

@hawaii_jake Your link begins with: the main event this week is the solar eclipse in cancer occurring on saturday (7/11),
Okay, so Saturday is the 10th, not the 11th. How can they get the rest of it right if they can’t figure out a regular calendar?
To answer the OP, the effect of a solar eclipse will be localized darkness, for a short period of time.

I am a Cancer and the moon always affects me as Cancer is heavy on moon influence even if my moon is not in cancer. My sensory perceptions are greatly up at the moment and I am extremely thoughtful… that is full of thought.

Your rising sign may have some effect on you too. Mine is Virgo so I am being meticulous and cleaning up storage areas and tiding up. Your cancer moon will give you emotional shifts that can be very helpful when you get used to them. You make enjoy being near water or family or both for comfort or when you have tons of energy. Check your rising sign and your mid heaven and you may see what areas of your life will be most ebbed and flowed with any current moon. Be happily poetic and use your instincts for your self improvement or pupose in the area that is to the fore at that time. With a cancer moon you can rely on your emotions to be active in general. I have read some of your responses and they are thought full and caring so I would be trusting of your reactions. Cancer moon can be teary eyed but that does not mean you are a push over, you feel. The moon is blocking the sun and it is possible that you could also momentarily block a huge force but that is neither good nor bad and will have little effect on you if you are not in the eclipse full path. open yourself up and “see” what it does to/for you and use it well. Have fun.
