Do symbolic links survive reboot?

Asked by saservp (291points) July 25th, 2010

I just created a bajillion ‘ln -s’ symbolic links and realize I need to reboot my machine. Will they survive the reboot automatically or are they temporary?

It seems like half the files in Ubuntu are symbolic links (Hmm, I should see if I can find the real proportion…)
If they were temporary the whole system would vanish ;-)

yes. The only things that are likely to vanish on reboot are files you’ve stored in /tmp
