Do you wear contacts or glasses?

Asked by Frenchfry (7591points) July 26th, 2010

I can’t see put something in your eye. Contacts would be hard for me. I have a hard time with eye drops.

I wear glasses. I really need bifocals but for some reason I refuse to get them. What I would really like is contacts, the kind your can wear full time for as long as a month and then just use glasses for reading. I would love to just wake up and be able to see and be able to see clearly pretty much all the time, like when I was young, before my body started devolving.

i wear contacts and so does my brother but if your eye is not comfortable using contacts i would recommend glasses. and just to say eye drops arent so bad and if your wanting contacts, ask for thin ones. so it will be more comfortable to wear.:)

I just don’t wear them all the time. I take them off when I sit in front of computer, anyway, contacts do damage to eyes.

I am lost without my glasses. The last time I lost them I just sat in bed and watched TV until I got a replacement. Going outside or looking at the computer is just painful.

I can’t do contacts. And I like the nerd look glasses give me.

Glasses, for the same reason as you.
Though I’d say contacts would be easier than eye drops for me >_< I can’t help but close my eyes!

I’m very near sighted (can’t see one foot in front of my face) so it’s actually easier to look at close things without glasses, so I have a habit of tilting my head to peer out of the top/bottom of my glasses to look at things really closely. XD

I wear glasses. I can’t stand to have anything near my eye, even my own finger.

The sad part is, I shouldn’t be wearing glasses now. I have to because when I was younger I wanted contacts and the eye doctor I went to (not my regular one) gave me hard contacts. According to my regular eye doctor, they re-shaped my eye so now I’ve got to where these things forever.

I wore contacts in high school. Back then the only ones that could correct astigmatism were the semi perm, I think they were called. They were kind of like hard contacts and you had to get used to them. So, I just wore soft contacts and couldn’t see very good. I hated it, but I wanted to look beautiful with no glasses. I wore them about 6 months and threw them in the trash.

I love my glasses. I order them online and get them for really cheap. I have 8 pairs and I wear different ones all the time. My favorite are bright, almost neon orange. I’m “famous” at work for my glasses. Customers come up to me all the time and say “I like those glasses, but I like the black rhinestone ones better!” I tell them I wear different glasses because I get tired of wearing uniform colors and glasses and earrings are the only thing I can do to mix it up.

@knitfroggy Where do you order your glasses from?

knitfroggy's avatar

@mrentropy www.zennioptical.com They have complete glasses starting at $8.00. They come from China, but, they are great. I took the first ones I got to the eye doctor and had them checked and they were exactly right.

I wear glasses occasionally. If my eyes get worse,I will consider contacts, but for now,I am happy with my Clark Kent frames.

I use to do both. I would wear color contacts, and my favorite ones were the purple ones.
But there was a method by doing that. When I wanted to just have fun and look flirty, I wore the contacts. But when I wanted to look sophisticated, and smart, I wore the glasses.

Contacts. I have backup glasses as well, and I also have reading glasses (although I normally just let my eyes strain and get a headache instead of the laborious task of going 2 rooms over and getting them out of my dresser drawer…. I have to stop doing that).

I’ve done both. I started wearing contacts when I was 16 and wore them very constantly for the next 3 years. Then my eyes started to get very irritated when I put them in and I went back to my glasses. When the newer contact lenses came out I tried them again and found them to be a bit more comfortable but I still couldn’t wear them for more than six hours.

I finally bit the bullet two years ago and had laser eye surgery. I have to say I love waking up in the morning and being able to see everything. I love looking over at the clock, in the middle of the night, and being able to read the time.

@knitfroggy I do the same! I love them. I have 2 pair now and was just thinking the other day another pair would be nice.

knitfroggy's avatar

@netgrrl I want to order a couple new pairs. I generally order two at a time because the shipping is the same. I want to order some sunglasses, but haven’t ever gotten around to it.

I wear contacts because my glasses are extremely thick. I’ve needed eyesight correction since I was 5 years old, so my eyes are pretty awful. I’ve worn contacts since I was 13, so after 15 years of sticking my finger in my eye every day – it’s like second nature to me now.

I tried several types of contacts but gave up. It wasn’t that I minded having a foreign object in my eyes—just that it took me too darned long to get them in. I could never master that.

Bugatti glasses with high index lenses.

Contacts are just too much bother.

aprilsimnel's avatar

Glasses. I find it difficult to remove contacts.

downtide's avatar

I can’t bear anything touching my eyes, tried contacts once and hated them, so its glasses for me.

Aster's avatar

Just drugstore reading glasses. I don’t have to have them to drive yet.

I wear glasses, but that is because I need to have progressive lenses. Before I turned 40, I was able to wear single vision lenses to correct my astigmatism and nearsightedjness. When I was in my 20’s, I wore contacts for a little bit, they had just come out with soft toric contacts to correct the astigmatism, but now that I need glasses to read also, I have to go with progressive bifocals. Also, I am a pilot (as a hobby), and I cannot legally wear bi-focal contacts, when I fly.

I wear glasses. I wear contacts for diving, but I am getting prescription goggles. I much prefer glasses to contacts.

I have worn both, but prefer wearing glasses,
