How do you feel about this law?

Asked by daytonamisticrip (4859points) August 1st, 2010

If someone breaks into your house and steals something, say a big t.v, and breaks their back trying to lift it the robber can sue you for your t.v being to big.

Are you kidding me? That is like the worst law ever made. There are some crazy laws out there.

I think that’s a stupid law. I say that’s what they get for trying to steal stuff.

Can you provide a link?

Simply put, you can be sued by anyone for any reason. It is a sad waste of resources but good for attorneys.

i didnt find it on the internet. i heard it from some people including one of my teachers.

@worriedguy True. They can sue… but will they win?

NormanL's avatar

In South Carolina if he breaks in my house, I can shoot him. End of story.

I sure hope he breaks his back. What a dumb law.

@NormanL I like THAT law.

I have heard this before, about the robber being able to sue you. I really don’t see them winning, though.

LuckyGuy's avatar

@Likeradar The lawyers win every time.
