Is it possible that most men prefer women with long hair because of leftover hardwiring: it's easier to drag your woman off if she has long hair?

Asked by WillWorkForChocolate (23163points) August 5th, 2010

Just wondering… it would be harder to grab a woman with really short hair after you’ve clubbed her.

BTW- I did mean this to be funny, I’m not saying all men are neanderthals or anything. :P

Women with short hair do make an impression of being more independent and less likely to let themselves be dragged off to a cave without putting up a fight.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

If anyone ever tries to drag me off by my hair,I will pummel them until they scream like a little girl ;)

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

That was one part. The longer hair also works in place of a dishrag.

CMaz's avatar

It is what the hair is attached to that appeals to me.

Blackberry's avatar

Uh, no lol…....I think it is because long hair is a feminine trait, just like wide hips and softer skin.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

OK Before I post this: I’m totally kidding. The long hair also works like reins on a horse. Bend her over, grab a handful in each hand and enjoy the ride.

CMaz's avatar

Wait. What hair are we talking about?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@ChazMaz If I have to make that call I might reconsider.

Fyrius's avatar

@Blackberry
That’s not an answer. The question is why we consider this trait feminine.

Well, this is an interesting situation. I’m derailing a silly thread into seriousness.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Oh no, another one. When she’s giving oral, long hair is easier to grab than ears.

janbb's avatar

@Fyrius If anyone could do that, it would be you.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Just don’t call me Mr. Ed, and we’ll be fine. :P

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Trust me, I can use the half inch many men have when they’re going down on me just as well as they can use my foot and a half of hair.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@papayalily Too bad they don’t have an awesome answer. LMAO

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe It’s hard to give a good answer when your mouth is full (as it should be).

CMaz's avatar

Full of hair! lol :-)

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Long hair also works in place of wiping your mouth on the sheets when you’re done.

Blackberry's avatar

@Fyrius Oh, why do we consider long hair feminine? Hmmmm, don’t know that one.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

My husband thinks women with short hair look like “dykes”. Or so he tells me, while he’s searching for his club…

janbb's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Feh – you are gross!

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I’m sorry janbb. I’m totaly off the wall today.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

There’s more in my head or should I stop now?

janbb's avatar

that’s o.k., continue. I’ll be leaving soon anyway :-).

Cruiser's avatar

Clubbing women is so…..primitive! Just use chocolate cake and you have to beat them off with a club! ;)

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

Long hair means you don’t have to change the sheets and pillow cases as often after she can’t swallow it all.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Do it anyway. We appreciate clean sheets and will be more inclined to give an encore ;-)

MissAusten's avatar

Long hair is a sign of youth and health, which is a sign of fertility. At least, biologically speaking that may be why long hair is considered an attractive, feminine quality. I think this article says something similar, but throws “blonde” in there as well.

So now that’s out of the way, I can say there are some sick puppies here on Fluther. Keep your clubs away from me and my long hair!! Oh wait…........is that cake?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

If you go fishing, long hair holds more bait than short hair.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Wouldn’t that be an argument for men to have long hair, not women? The women stay at home while the men go fishing (traditionally), so the men would have to get the woman’s hair beforehand, but if they grow it out themselves they can pluck away as needed.

Frenchfry's avatar

@ChazMaz OMG men have a one track mine. Now that is funny.

Frenchfry's avatar

I thought long hair was a sexual thing . Hmmm. Easier to yank in the throws of passion.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I’m sorry guys, I was totally out of control for awhile. Long hair is much sexier than short hair because I can play with it more, bury my nose in it and smell it more and it looks much sexier to see a woman laying on a bed, covered only by her hair. Face down or face up, with her hair draped over her body, maybe covering some areas so I can’t see them except to see the curves, with a nice smile on her lips.

Jude's avatar

Maybe, that’s why men’s nuts are within kneeing distance. ~

zenele's avatar

I prefer long hair on women, short hair on men. But I believe it’s just a personal preferance.

woodcutter's avatar

it’s a lot harder to see cars coming if the woman has big hair

Frenchfry's avatar

@woodcutter Do you live in Texas?

ucme's avatar

I have to say I prefer women with hair all down their backs…...none on their heads mind you just down the back. I call it wookie love.

cookieman's avatar

A) My wife is more likely to club me than I her.
B) We’re both a couple of out-of-shape porkchops…so there will be no dragging.
C) If any part of my anatomy were to drag on the ground, I could think of something far better than my knuckles.
D) Personally, I prefer my wife’s hair however she is comfortable with it. She’s the one gotta wear it.

woodcutter's avatar

@Frenchfry ; close enough :/.

wundayatta's avatar

It’s a myth. It’s much easier to conk a girl on the head who has short hair. Less padding.

And who are we kidding? Do you think I’m taking the time to drag her to my cave before I have my way with her?!?

Did you ever notice that “conk” rhynes with “bonk?” I’ve done some serious “conking” for a tiny bit of bonking—in my life. Not that I’m complaining. Well, maybe a little bit. Ok, a lot!

BoBo1946's avatar

Not an issue with me. It is about the person. Long hair, short hair, red hair, blonde hair, green hair; what the heck!

zophu's avatar

It’s probably more a sign of the ability to be at leisure that makes it attractive to cultures. The men work in the sun, so they must have short hair. The women stay in the house to care for children, so they may have long hair. Other than that it’s just fashion and tradition.

I recently cut my hair short like Halle Barry’s short wispy cut and I love it. My boyfriend, at the time now best friend, also loved it and said it was very sexy. I have a very feminine face though with large blue eyes so people say I pull it off well without looking masculine. My hair is naturally very curly and the humidity in the south is more than I care to deal with and the frizz it causes. I just gel it and go now and I love that I can ride the motorcycle and no helmet hair and all the windows down in the car and love it!!!

Berserker's avatar

I heard that the fear of the dark stems from our caveman days when sometimes, predators attacked sleeping humans in the night.

I suppose that might be it, if this hair thing didn’t actually first occur in some cheap low budget seventies porn movie. I’m pretty sure cavewomen were rather feisty themselves, and all the men probably had long hair back then, too.

jazmina88's avatar

The equal rights activist in me, says bring back the long hair in the men…It’s hot. and I can tangle them in my web…..says the black widow :):)

Men are for conking and bonking.
and taking out garbage.

MRSHINYSHOES's avatar

Personally, I do not like short hair on girls. They look like boys. And of course, yes, they look more independent and “want to be left alone”, I prefer a girl who I can drag by the hair into my domain. Lol. ;)

MRSHINYSHOES's avatar

@zenele Exactly. Same here. ;)
