Do upside down planters work?

Asked by jamms (609points) March 22nd, 2008 from iPhone

I am planning to plant tomatos but space limitations require me to hang the plants upsidedown on my porch. Will this work?

I don’t see why not, many gardening magazines sell planters specifically made to grow tomatoes inverted. The planters are supposedly better for the tomatoes.

Yes I have used them in the past. The only catch is you must water more often they dry out quicker.

Yep, it will definitely work. I just moved, but my neighbor in the last place I lived had a decent crop of tomatoes going, planted upside down.
