Dyson Filter Cleaning?

Asked by mattm999 (4points) August 8th, 2010

I own a Dyson vacuum cleaner. Can I put the canister/filter in the dishwasher to clean it? I see no paper parts but can’t see behind the “cheese grater” screen so I want to be careful.

I just looked at my instruction booklet for my Dyson and it says do not put in the dishwasher and do not use dish detergent to wash the filter.

Don’t put it in the dishwaher.

Also don’t try to dry it in a microwave or tumble dryer.

Noooooo. Come on mattm999, man up, wash that puppy by hand with swishing in mild dish detergent like very diluted Dawn and running tap water through it…The old fashioned way :-) Don’t fight it, The vacuum is worth it.
Also get a spare filter because it takes several days to dry.

@MaryW diturgent is a no no as well, acording to the manual.

All you have to do is run it under the tap. I mean really, how hard is that.

The canister shouldn’t need to be washed. The cloth filter (from the compartment below where the canister fits) does need to be rinsed ever 6 months or so.
Wonderful vacuums. Take care of it!
