How can I get this grayish, blackish line off of my nail?

Asked by ladyv900 (713points) August 12th, 2010

I’m 18 yrs old and the line appeared on my nail a few months ago I would say probably in April. What is it? I went to the doctor and asked him if it’s a sign of cancer and he said no. I really want it off, it looks ugly to me.

Where on the nail is it? Is it beneath the nail, part of the nail, or on the surface of the nail? How far up on the nail is it?

Can’t help if I don’t know the details. :)

EDIT: I agree with the others. If it’s moving as the nail grows, don’t worry about it.

I’ve had a similar problem but it got away by itself after a month or two… You shouldn’t worry. I think it was also beneath the nail.

If it is moving as the nail grows, I would not worry about it. Eventually it will grow to the end and you can trim it off.
