Has anyone made a non-stop flight around the world over both poles?

Asked by wotec (7points) August 18th, 2010

I know that at least two aircraft have gone around the earth along the equator, but I haven’t heard of this feat non-stop, non-refueled over the poles.

I don’t know, but here’s a place to start. Round the world flights

The reason is because it’s much easier to fly with the jet stream which moves at anywhere from 50 to 215 knots. This reduces the energy costs involved.

Elgin Long did it in 1971. Don’t know if he stopped or not however. I believe there was an SR-71 pilot that did it also, but I can’t find the book I read it in.
