T.G.I.F. (Thank Goodness It's Friday) Is it really?

Asked by AmWiser (14947points) August 20th, 2010

Do you look forward to Fridays more than any other day of the week?

Or what day of the week do you really look forward to, and why?

Wednesday because of Man V Food.

I love Fridays, I always get together with friends, (not always the same friends) eat good food, drink some wine, have lovely evenings..

I like Sundays the most because it’s the end of another week (I’m counting down the weeks of the deployment because there are still too many days to count down). When my husband is home Saturday and Sunday are tied because those are the days we both are usually off and we get to do more things as a family (since those are also the days our son is off school).

Maybe if i had a normal work week i would look forward to fridays, but i work all kinds of random days.So to me, fridays are just another day of the week.

I love Fridays because I get so excited about sleeping in on Saturday.

Now that I am unemployed, it’s just another day. When I worked, yes, I looked forward to fridays.

I work for the school board. Absolutely I look forward to Fridays!!!

I like Thursdays if for no other reason than I can reference The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or The House at Pooh Corner depending on how the day is going.

Why look forward to it if I work that day and the next day? I look forward to my days off.

I enjoy what I do, so I really look forward to any day of the week.

@Michael_Huntington I have tried to watch that program…no words
@ Seaofclouds, please know that your service to our country is greatly appreciated
@le_inferno yeah, I remember those days:0)

@AmWiser My husband is the one deployed. I’m just the one sitting at home waiting for him to get back. Thank you though. It’s nice to know people still appreciate what he does.

I like Fridays. Now that my husband doesn’t work weekends for the most part, it is fun to think of the weekend stretching ahead all shiny and full of possibility.

@Seaofclouds : Don’t sell yourself short, Darlin’, the support at home plays a huge role in troop morale. You also serve.

Saturday is the best. It is a day that can be filled with all kinds of possibilities. You can stay in bed late or o to bed late. It doesn’t matter. Just enjoy.

AmWiser's avatar

@Seaofclouds Jill is absolutely right on, you also serve.
@JilltheTooth if you go out tonight, have a drink of wine for me:D

JilltheTooth's avatar

@AmWiser : Been there, done that, now I’m here with you fine folks!

AmWiser's avatar

@JilltheTooth now did you find yourself rushing home just to get on fluther? I’m only asking because tomorrow, I’ll be away from fluther all day and I seem to be dreading it already. Even though I have a wonderful day planned. :-)

JilltheTooth's avatar

@AmWiser : lol…actually, no. We start early and break up fairly early cuz everyone has a different distance to drive home. But, I have to admit, this was the first thing i did when i got home!

My most favorite days/times are Friday night and Saturday. I love Sunday mornings, too, but by early afternoon I start to feel stressed about Monday morning.

AmWiser's avatar

@JilltheTooth thanks, just making sure…lol.

AmWiser's avatar

@Austinlad my husband (who suffers from clinical depression) use to be the same way. Every Sunday afternoon…it was awful. Would you believe, now that he’s retired, he gets depressed because he misses his job.

Austinlad's avatar

@AmWiser, I can believe that. I’m close to retiring myself, and I intend to work part-time to avoid that problem.

I got home from work at the usual time, 9:00, making it a 13 hour day. Tomorrow is catch-up on work that needs to be done around the house that was neglected during the week. Errand-running starts at 7:00 am, and ends around noon. Afternoon is pick-up-the-house time. Sunday is cleaning, cooking, laundry. Same pattern every week. Occasionally, I go out on Saturday night but usually I’m too tired.

Frenchfry's avatar

Everyday is friday. Since I don’t work.

AmWiser's avatar

@BarnacleBill I remember those 14–15 hour days…one day they will be a vague memory (mine are).

BarnacleBill's avatar

@AmWiser, I am in a mode now where I feel guilty about leaving before 7 pm. I’m not compensated for staying, but feel that I must do so in order to keep my job.

gypsywench's avatar

@Frenchfry Everyday is Friday for me too!

NaturallyMe's avatar

Yes it is! :D I’ve always had jobs that i didn’t love, so between that and school before, i’ve always looked forward to the weekend!

However now me and my husband work for ourselves, from home, so it’ almost like everyday is like Friday. Except i still, for some reason, look forward to weekends, hehe. My excitement starts on Thursday already, because that’s the day before Friday.
