In Fallout 1 can your companions who use guns run out of ammunition?

Asked by Plone3000 (668points) August 22nd, 2010

While I have been playing the game I realized that the first Companion you have a chance to get(Ian) started using unarmed strikes as opposed to his pistole. Did he run out of ammo? should I give him more, or will it be a waste?

I would also like to know If you give a companion better armor, will they use it?

Thanks.

Yes, they can run out of ammo – in which case they’ll just start whacking people in the head then. Give them more (the appropriate kind for the weapon they’re using) and they’ll start shooting up the joint (use discretion if you ever decide to give someone a Gatling gun).

Yes, they will use better armor although it won’t appear on them. There’s a way to go to their combat tactical options through dialog and you have to select it in that menu, as well as any weapons you prefer them to use.
