What do you think would happen if, for one day only, the entire population of the world could not lie?

Asked by serafina (1154points) August 31st, 2010

How do you / or not, think this would effect society?

Would you struggle not to get caught out also?

So what would happen the next day….would there be double the deaths? Alas, fortunately or unfortunately death is inevitable.
@Austinlad lol! both of em.

Not much. I don’t think the vast majority of people believe they are lying most of the time, so it would be easy to refrain for one day. A few people who habitually lie might talk about what they really want or what their real agenda is. This could only help other folks make better decisions.

In fact, when you think about it, the internet is making it harder for people to lie. You can get instant access to information that either verifies or puts the lie to something someone else says. I think your one day world is becoming more of an everyday world. There is still dissimulation, but it’s getting harder to get away with it.

I think a lot of people would be very upset with others that they know. And people would say things they didn’t really mean except in that moment in hurt and anger.

That would mark the Second Coming of Christ.

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”...

Simple message really. Accept the Way of Truth and Live.

Reminds me of the movie Liar Liar. Reminded me of that. and I think a lot of husbands would be sleeping on the couch.

would be a lot of politicians committing suicide!

@Austinlad – Yes – @Frenchfry nailed that one ^ and I immediately realized it was a much better example, and her (and your) movie mojo are strong!

It wouldn’t be much different from any other day for most people, and the rest would suddenly find the need to stay in bed and get a lot of sleep.

I think that a lot of people would be getting very mad and upset at each other!
