Why isn't my microphone working on my Mac?

I tried talking on Skype with my Mom, and first I did a test call. I could hear my recording and the little recorded person, but when I called her, she couldn’t hear anything.

What’s wrong? I used a small microphone, the built in microphone and the microphone from “Rock Band”...

Are you sure the problem is on you end? Does your Mom have the mute on or speakers turned off!

@Tropical_Willie : Nope, she didn’t. And when I called a friend in Germany, I could hear him but he could not hear me. And he wasn’t muted.

Go to System Preferences in Finder. Then go the the Hardware line and click on Sound. Ciick on input and make sure the Input slider is moved to the RIGHT !!
