Why is my deck doing this?

Asked by ryan9305 (297points) September 18th, 2010

Ok i have a 2000 Chevy Cavalier and I installed a kenwood kdc-x592 deck in it. I installed the deck when I bought the car 2 years ago. Now today I got inside my door panel to tighten up some nuts and bolts that I could hear were loose. Now whenever I turn the volume up to a certain decibal the deck turns off and resets. Doesn’t go into protect mode, it just turns off and then right back on. Any ideas on what this might be or how to fix it?

Sounds like a short. By tightening the nuts and bolts, you’ve probably squeezed two wires close to each other or ripped the insulation. I’d say open the door panel again and check for that.

Actually I have figured it out. I only had my key turned to on. I didn’t have the car started so it didn’t have the power to crank the speakers like that. Once I started heading down te road it worked perfect though. Thanks anyways.

why are the bolts in your car loose? That’s never happened to any car of mine. Loc -tite?
