Paradise is any place where the stresses of life are in proportion to the joy life offers. Can be as simple as listening to a child’s laughter, playing with a puppy, or being with loved ones. It’s what I make of the place.

@Adirondackwannabe Where are you from??? Lets trade?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Deja_vu I’m in a strange philisophical mood today. I’m just enjoying the present and not wishing for anything else. Good tunes playing, chilling out. Makes it pretty easy to find paradise. I’m in upstate NY.
I just suck at spelling.

A world where people strive for paradise is my paradise.

@Deja_vu That is beautiful! Sounds like paradise to me.

@Blackberry Religion isn’t all bad. I understand where you are coming from. Seriously? Religion bugs you that much?

thekoukoureport's avatar

More people have died for religion than any other.
More knowledge has been destroyed under religion than any other.
People suffer more through religion than any other.
You like it?

@Deja vu Almost 3,000 people dead should do more than vex you…....Does this bug you?

Deja_vu's avatar

@Blackberry yes…. but this is for a diffent thread… I suggust it’s question time for you. I’m all out. I can’t ask anymore.

Blackberry's avatar

@Deja_vu :) These questions are all over fluther lol.

@Blackberry I’m still thinking about your first answer. Could you expand on it a little?

thekoukoureport's avatar

oh noooooo their goes paradise. See how religion fucks things up! lol

Blackberry's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe I don’t want to abolish religion completely, soviet style, but it’s not irrational to ask for a somewhat complete disregard of fundamental religious beliefs and the people that promote them. I know it’s not religion itself, that it’s the people, but the people need something else to ‘cling’ to. They’re just clinging to what is out there and is the most prevalent. Oh wait….I forgot to add ‘in my opinion’ lol.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Blackberry That’s along the lines I was thinking, but from the opposite angle. I’m not religious in the least bit, but if someone needs something to cling to, it’s not the worst thing. Unless, they take it to the extreme. Then watch out. Needs some more thinking on the issue.

OK Back to happy thoughts.

@Adirondackwannabe If I can’t have my first paradise, I’ll take the small tropical island where there is a philosophy of slight hedonism mixed with secular humanism amongst its inhabitants lol.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Blackberry Didn’t there used to be a Club Hedonism or something along that line in a small tropical island. That sounds kind of nice right now. lol

Blackberry's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe Oh man, it does. You know….not many people like to let loose and have real, unadulterated fun when they go out. Even when people are drunk and having a lot of fun, you can tell they’re still holding back. I wonder why that is?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Blackberry They haven’t discovered the secret to paradise. :)

thekoukoureport's avatar

Uhhh cause they don’t want to wake up in the morning with their ass hurting and 5 bucks in their hand.

Winters's avatar

A pebble beach on a partially cloudy day with a thunder storm on the horizon and a gentle breeze rolling in. Temperature is between 65 and 75. WITH NO ONE ELSE PRESENT.

but otherwise I’ll settle for a pillowed room with good AC and a 5 star chef and a ton of books.

I had my paradise once. It was called childhood. Everyday was perfect. No responsibilities and loving people took good care of me. Siblings who loved me and played with me as well. The world was my oyster back then. Would’ve been more perfect if I simply never got sick but it was as close to paradise I was going to get. :)
However, nothing last forever, and like an oyster removed from water the world started to stink.
Although, I have a great life, knowing how screwed up the world really is, knocks the rose color glasses right off.
