What do you think of Pat Boone organizing a Tea Party Rally in Hollywood?

Asked by RANGIEBABY (2097points) September 25th, 2010

Do you think there are more conservative entertainers that are in the closet, so they will still get work?

I don’t think anyone hires actors because of their politics. Charlton Heston was a well-known conservative and he got work.

I don’t think it is any surprise to anyone that Mr. Pat Boone is conservative. It does come as a surprise that he would get involved in something as hair brained controversial as the Tea Party movement.

FYI, here is a list of some well known celebrities who are out of the closet conservatives.

Why would anyone be surprised? He came out as some kind of right wing body building gay wannabe in the 80’s He has been creepy since he started making “Christian” albums.

I remember when he was a young early rock and roll singer. I think that he is like Ronald Reagan and Charlton Heston. The older they got the more religious and right wing cray they got. It’s scary, I hope that I don’t get that way as I age. I’m in my 60’s now and “think” I’m still sane. At least I retain my ability to be appalled by the tea party and right wing idiots.

@SuperMouse Thanks for the list. I had no idea how many there were.
@marinelife Then why do they always ask the actors if they are worried about getting work?

I say, “It’s Too Soon to Know,” but “Ain`t That a Shame,” and Boone replies, “I Almost Lost My Mind” but “Don’t Forbid Me.”

By the way, he’s been an avowed conservative and Christian activist since he hit the airwaves in the early ‘50s, and it never seems to have any any affect on his career. H was the second biggest charting artist behind only Elvis Presley but ahead of Ricky Nelson and The Platters, and was ranked at No. 9—behind The Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney but ahead of artists such as Aretha Franklin and The Beach Boys – in its listing of the Top 100 Top 40 Artists 1955–1995. In the ‘60s, he focused on gospel music and is a member of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. He still holds the Billboard record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with more than one song.

I used to enjoy Pat Boone’s TV show as a kid, and I grew up watching every show on the station he used to own, KDOC out of Anaheim. But then as an older kid, I noticed how Pat Boone is one of those Simple Christian Guys. The kind of guys who live really good personal lives, but at the same time, naively support political men who he thinks are Christian, but who in reality are nothing but a bunch of Security-State-Domination Whores. The kind of people in government who are obsessed with things like banning or controlling sodomy, making sure no ugly singer with boobs sings at the Super Bowl, the kind of people who support the Drug War, the Iraq War, the War on Smut, etc. They love warfare and confuse it with loving our country or our troops. When in reality the love of warfare, is the hatred of the troops But they also claim to love Jesus, and for that reason alone, Mr. Boone is tricked into their hypocritical world of talking peace, while proxy-murdering the innocent.

Instead of lowering himself into the filthy end evil world of partisan politics…. he should have just taken a cue from Johnny Cash, who was able to befriend all types of people, but without demeaning himself into the petty and evil world of partisan politics or authoritarian conservatism.

Mention Pat Boone and the only thing I picture is when he took his shirt of at some awards show and jiggled his tits… traumatized me to this day!

@Ron_C You think you are sane!?

Why do we allow right leaning hollywood stars? First radio talk shows… we’ll probably take care of those nuts real soon…. but hollywood… maybe chavez has some useful tips…

RANGIEBABY's avatar

I guess we allow right leaning hollywood stars, because we have nothing to say about it. Hopefully after the Tea Party gets there, there will be many more right leaning hollywood stars. I have never been to a Tea Party, but I might like to go to one of their rallies.

Pat Boone was always a square right-wing asshole. Anybody with any sense preferred Elvis. Now if Elvis [who was awarded an honorary FBI badge] had lived and organized a Tea Party rally, that would take some figgerin’...

RANGIEBABY's avatar

Actually Elvis was a conservative person. so , hey go figure.

palerider's avatar

wow, a lot of hatred against the tea party. people i’m guessing you have never met and don’t know personally… ta-da, here we are and we are here to stay.

@Tomfafa I said that I “think” that I am sane, of course even crazy people think they’re sane. Unlike Boone, I do not believe that there is a “Liberal Conspiracy” that is going to make the U.S. into a socialist country. I do, however, wonder what’s wrong with a little social democracy?

RANGIEBABY's avatar

I think Pat Boone’s Tea Party rally sounds like a lot of fun to be had. Anybody here planning on going?

palerider's avatar

this is a republic, not a true democracy as laid out by the founding documents.

@palerider this is a republic, not a true democracy as laid out by the founding documents. true, but it is a more democratic republic since the democratically elected congress passed bills concerning the abolition of slavery, universal suffrage, the voting rights act, to name a few.
