Will a newer Bose Wave Radio remote work on my older Bose Wave Radio?

Asked by DandyDear711 (1512points) September 27th, 2010

I have a Bose AM/FM radio (AWR1–1W). We think the remote got thrown out with the recycling. I have been looking on ebay for a replacement remote. The newer remotes (for radios with cd players etc.) are cheaper and more plentiful. Would one of the new remotes work with my older Bose? I also wouldn’t mind a larger remote – hopefully less likely to get thrown out or lost.

I think you should contact Bose.
I have one of the older remotes myself and think its kind of fiddly !! I keep misplacing the thing so its easy to lose

I chatted with a representative on the bose website. he said no – they are not compatible – and you can not buy an older replacement on the website. so back to ebay. maybe i should buy a lot of them!

When I bought my new stereo and went to turn it on, it turned on my old one also. I had to call to figure out how to set them differently. But, this was about 10 years ago (the older one was maybe 3 years older than that one) so I guess it is different now.

I bought a used old remote on ebay. works great. i am thinking of velcroing it to a piece of wood so i am less likely to lose it again.
