Do you think Prince Poppycock should have won America's Got Talent?

Asked by JustmeAman (3978points) October 6th, 2010

I would bet that Prince Poppycock and Fighting Gravity will both get shows in Vegas. The little 10 year old girl that sang Opera was amazing as well. What do you think?

Prince Poppycock, interesting but over rated.

Fighting Gravity, Vegas quality. But, was disappointed with the whole dancing on the ceiling thing.
Seems after their first performance (which was awesome) they went down hill.

Fighting Gravity should have won, hands down. They were the most unique talent during the entire season and blew my mind almost every time. I heard they are doing shows right now, I don’t know about Vegas yet.

Prince Poppycock is good at what he does, but I just wasn’t a big fan.

Prince Poppycock was sort of a one-trick pony.

I know what you mean but I thought because he did everything he had lots of talent. The most unique was Fighting Gravity.

Yeah, no. Prince Poppycock kinda creeped me out.

I thought he should have won and if not him then Fighting Gravity. I was really disappointed that it came down to the two singers and Grimm won. He is a decent singer, but not someone I would pay to see in Vegas. I would have paid to see Fighting Gravity and Prince Poppycock though.

Americas Got Talent just became another American Idol with their end result of a singer winning. They had so many unique and talented acts that IMO should have slam dunked just another dime a dozen singing sensation

What Prince Poppycock does takes an enormous amount of talent and imagination. I loved him and thought he should have won.

“Prince Poppycock”?
What complete and utter poppycock.

I’d never heard of the fellow, so the magic of googleland transported me to him. Without seeing any of the other finalists, I feel safe in saying that he may not have been the most talented but i’m betting he was the most charismatic. I liked what I saw, brief as it was.

I liked Prince Poppycock well enough (especially the thought that went into his costumes and set design) but I wasn’t moved by his singing. His rendition of “Vesti La Giubba” felt too softened, which surprised me.

Fighting Gravity felt like the most composed, ready-for-Vegas act.

I like Poppycock as a novelty act. He’d work well as part of an ensemble show but I don’t know if I’d want to pay for an hour plus of just him.
Fighting Gravity, Arc Attack, the magicians Michael Grasso and Murray were all the best contenders for a Vegas showcase. Having that particular prize come down to a choice between two amateur singers is ridiculous when there was so much more appropriate talent to put into the finals.

I loved Michael Grimm, he was by far my favorite performer. I’m rarely touched by a singer the way that I found myself being moved by Grimm.

I didn’t want him to win, though. I agree that Poppycock or Fighting Gravity would have made for better Vegas acts. I never want a singer to win AGT, there are plenty of shows for that.

I liked Prince Poppycock, but I completely agree with Piers (for once) that he blew it on his last performance. I think he might have had a chance of winning if he had chosen a better number, he wasn’t good enough on his finale performance. Out of the four finalists, Michael Grimm was definitely my favorite.

Thank god that little girl didn’t win… I really didn’t like her…

I was pretty surprised that dude singer won.. was he talented? Sure. Would I pay to see him in a Vegas show? Absolutely not.

He seemed more suited for an American Idol show than anything else..

I thought there were looking for unique, crazy, talents.. so.. it was sort of a let down.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@mangeons glad you said it, I didn’t like her either. I swear every year there is a little blonde girl that sings in the finals. Annoys me to no end.

Blueroses's avatar

It isn’t that the little girl isn’t talented, it’s the show’s producers who manipulate the “Aw, shucks” acts into the finals. I agree. Drives me batshit.

alovehangoverr's avatar

@Blueroses – That little girl freaked the crap right outta me. That voice is just not right coming out of her.

That being said, the ballroom dancing kid couple also weirded me out haha.

Blueroses's avatar

It’s all a little JonBenet Ramsey, isn’t it? Prodding children into adult roles. Yep. Creepy.

mangeons's avatar

@Blueroses I honestly just think her act was only really good because she was ten. I mean, of course she was talented, but if it was an adult that sang exactly the same, they wouldn’t have made it into the finals. She got the majority of her votes on the “cute” factor, which really bothers me.

Blueroses's avatar

@mangeons I completely agree. There are many adults who can sing better than that child. It’s a little bit sick to bring that little girl onto a world stage at this point in her life. And to make her a finalist on AGT, where the prize is a Vegas show, is irresponsible.
Still voting for Fighting Gravity or Michael Grasso.
