What do these dreams mean?

Asked by madmax303 (262points) October 6th, 2010

So I have an online friend..actually more of best friend. We talk everyday and we really hope to meet each other someday. We both dont know what each other looks like. I had this dream last night, which I dont remember much of, and it was that we both met each other, and we were in a swimming pool. I had a dream awhile ago that we met each other, but we were swimming in a lake. What do these dreams mean, and why are they associated with water?

Water represents emotion, so this makes sence because you already have feelings for this person which will be there when you meet for the first time. Usually when you meet someone for the first time these emotions aren’t there.

This sounds like a wish fulfillment dream. The water represents emotion finding its expression and freedom. This other person already means a lot to you.

I can’t tell you what your dream means, but unlike @bob_, I believe that any dream you remember may—may—hold clues to all kinds of things going on in your head and in your life, including relationship issues, work, anxieties, etc. Anyway, that’s been my experience.

There is no way to interpret what a dream means, because the meaning is unique to the person having it.

I agree with @Austinlad – dreams often are a manifestation of things going on in your conscious or subconscious brain. So nobody here can tell you what these dreams mean because we don’t know you that well. But you can theorize on your own – for example, what does swimming mean to you? Are you a good or bad swimmer, comfortable in the water? If you’re anxious about swimming, for example, maybe the dream embodies your uncertainty about this relationship by staging your “encounter” in an uncomfortable, unstable place. If you like swimming, it’s something else altogether.

As others said, your dreams are your own. My (biased) interpretation would be that you have a friend outside of the “normal” physical parameters of friendship so it would make sense that “seeing” him/her in a dream would be in some free-floating environment different from relating on the physical plane.

“To see water in your dream, symbolizes your unconscious and your emotional state of mind. Water is the living essence of the psyche and the flow of life energy. It is also symbolic of spirituality, knowledge, healing and refreshment. ”

“To see friends in your dream, signify aspects of your personality that you have rejected, but are ready to incorporate and acknowledge. The relationships you have with those around you are important in learning about yourself. Alternatively, dreaming of a friend, indicates positive news. ”

I think that’s very interesting. But in my opinion it may mean your swimming in your own emotions just to see him in person. (hell I don’t even know what I just said….) But you want to meet him. Maybe the water represents the feelings of how badly you want to meet him. But who knows you just might if your swimming in them.
