Hands down the 2007 Mustangs! They are very reminiscent of the 1967 fastbacks! American muscle!!! Woo Hoo!

The Tesla or my ‘99 Trans Am.

Chevy Corvette both old (Stingray) and new! Red of course!

No joke, a Lagonda

Mainly because this is what Uncle Oswald drove in a few Roald Dahl books, and that guy has serious style.

well, if your like thinking overall with every day driver role, my ‘06 Mustang GT does the job for me :D

The true “Sports Car” was when the power to weight ratio was heavily in favor of the power category…..
Of course if one were to ask…I’d want a Lola T70 MkIII b
Remember:
“If you can make black marks on a straight from the time you turn out of a corner until the braking point of the next turn, then you have enough horse power!”

I’m with mzgator on the stingrays! Just plain beautiful and loads of power.

my Mk4 vw gti vr6. Front wheel drive (booo) but had a good 300 horses at those front wheels. Was a pretty fun every day ride when I had her. I learned soo much working on her… Now a drive a jeep. ;)

Hands down, Porsche 356 B 1600 – http://tinyurl.com/6xfgde

My ‘84 350GT 5 speed is doing the job at this time. Currently building a 302, should have about 400HP. Have had a Sunbeam Tiger, very fast, very cool. Also drove a MGA with a 289 Ford engine, also nearly unmanageably powerful.

There are so many different categories that could fit into “best”. If I had to pick a practical “dream” car (ie- no exotics) I’d take a mint condition late 1970’s Porsche 911 Turbo.

Exotics included? Porsche Carrera GT and Ferrari F430 (exhaust note is pure sex) and also throw a Ford GT in to the mix.

I am so heartbroken… No love for the Toyota Supras?

qualitycontrol's avatar

supra comes right after skyline ;)

As greatest sports car ever? Toyota Supra? Maybe greatest dyno queen ever. Come on kids, Skylines and Supras fit their particular niche well but come nowhere near greatest sports car ever.

RAMesesII's avatar

I have yet to come across a car and driver that can take on my, still stock, ‘87 supra, and that’s an old car! And we’re not talking about drag races either… Time trials on mountainous roads.

Now, granted, of course a 200k dollar car or something like that’d destroy the supra, but dollar for dollar? It’s untouchable as of yet.

glial's avatar

@ RAMesell – You haven’t encountered many cars or drivers then :-)

Hobbes510's avatar

let the pissing contest begin… ;-)
my brother had one of them twin turbo supras of the late 80’s and the thing had gigantic balls I remember… Granted, I was about 10 then but, the memory is still pretty strong…

I live for out running/driving rice burners in my Mustang.

Hobbes510's avatar

And I like driving over them with my Jeep… If I can catch up to them… ;)
