Are there any inexpensive hotels in Miami that are on the beach, or near enough to walk?

…or are all the beachfront hotels much more expensive? I’ve never been to Miami before, and have to go on a one-day trip for work. Since I won’t have a rental car with me, I’d love to be staying somewhere where I might get a chance to see the beach, even just for a couple hours. Any suggestions?
