When viewing websites on MobileSafari, some text is enlarged by the browser for legibility. What is the rule that determines which text is enlarged?

MobileSafari is the browser used on the iPhone and iPod touch.

I notice this a ton on Barbelith.com, I’m not sure, other than volume of text.
The reply on the forum “Hey, be nice” would be small text.
But a rant about the legalization of pot would most likely be large text.
