How can I clean a couch?

all sorts of stains on the cushions, and overall a little dirty...the fabric is like a rough chenille, and it's beige. Are there any cheap products that I can buy and use at home?

You can get your couch looking brand new with Rug Doctor stain spray and a Rug Doctor steam cleaner! I bought a used white couch that had stains on it, and after I was through, it came out looking like new. You can purchase the spray and rent the steam cleaner at most grocery stores.
