Is it benificial to save your books from college?
I’ve been weighing out my options of selling my books back or keeping them for references, i know theres really no reason for Gen-Ed books but what about my major books? i feel like i should keep them, but i kind of think their worthless.

I kept one. For my field, I.T., the others where quickly outdated.
I kept mine.. Along with every note and test I ever took. Sometimes it is nice to have a quick reference for info you know. And I am not selling back a 80$ book for six dollars (hyperbole). I kept them.
I kept math, physics, foreign languages..none are outdated. After a while the notes and exams seemed extremely boring so I tossed them.
I’m keeping all the ones from my major’s classes and from my favorite classes. I like to write notes in textbooks and annotate them so that I can look things up later.
I held on to most of mine. I kept all of the literature and some of the textbooks, like anatomy and biology. I often refer to the foreign language ones for brush up.
I held on to mine for years until then economy crashed. I then sold them to the bookstore for cash.
I think I got about $20 dollars.
OTOH, since the www entered our lives, I usually use Google to brush up on most things. But like Delirium, I enjoyed rereading my notes, most of the time..particularly in poetry and novels.
I sell all of mine. For cash. I could use the cash. =\
Whats better is I usually make money by selling them back. I get them on Amazon – a $100.00 book for like $3.00 – and then I sell them to my school bookstore and I get about $15–20.
I kept everything for years. As did my husband. He always knew exactly where a particular book was, and loved having his own references and notes. I used things occasionally but it was not as necessary for my work. When I finally moved from the house, most of the books from those years were sold. But I still kept hundreds more. I love having these great books all around me. Not the textbooks though, they are finally gone.
I kept a few of my books, but most I listed on swapsimple. That way, I end up keeping most of the books around (at least for a bit), but can also use the credit system on their site to get new things.
I guess it depends on what book it is. I’m a graphic designer, so I have a tendency to keep most of my books for reference, but since the world of graphic design keeps changing – I get rid of the books that are out dated or that I know I won’t use in the future. Like Statistics shivers
You should keep the books from your major if you’re going to be a professor so that you can start building the collection of 1000 textbooks you’ll have in your office one day. I already have 35–40 textbooks from my undergrad (all related to my major) that I’m keeping because they’ll be part of my office.
