Are you lazy about "lurving" people?

Asked by nocountry2 (3689points) April 29th, 2008

Often I see people giving shout-outs to other responders above them, but no lurve…Do you always make the effort to dish it out or are you kinda lazy about it?

I would rather click the link instead of typing something out. I’m really lazy.

If I plan on adding something to the conversation anyway and want to acknowledge someone above I will. But I avoid adding a comment to congratulate someone.

I normally dont bother writing down compliments unless the answer is amazing. Usually I just press the “great answer” button.

I get whacky with the lurve!

nikipedia's avatar

Here, lurve all around.

eambos's avatar

thanks niki! ¿but doesnt lower the meaning of the lurve if we hand it out free all the time?

peedub's avatar

I think I just forget sometimes. I generally like to dish it though.

Shower the people you lurve with lurve,
show them the way that you feel;
things will be much better
if you only weel.

peedub's avatar

That’s T-shirt/bumper sticker material!

Lurve is something if you give it away
Give it away, give it away
Lurve is something if you give it away
You end up having more

It’s just like a magic penny
Hold it tight & you won’t have any
Lend it, spend it & you’ll have so many
They’ll roll all over the floor, for

Lurve is something if you give it away
Give it away, give it away
Lurve is something if you give it away
You end up having more!

Does your version have Paula Abdul singing and choreographing it? because mine just did.

susanc's avatar

I am happy I made pw think this.

nocountry2 i agree it is kinda weird when you see people saying about how great an answer was yet no GA was given.

All you need is Lurve ^_^

kevbo's avatar

Sometimes Q and/or A deserve lurve and no response and sometimes the other way around.

That’s the way lurrrrrve goes. That’s the way lurve goes…

nocountry2's avatar

see people? Just takes a little prodding and see how lurve-y we get…awww.

peedub's avatar

I wonder if there is lurve karma, or something.

ok that was a dumb statement

I click the Great Answer more often than I add a compliment to another user’s answer. Sometimes I don’t add an answer at all. Typically if it’s a question that I’d like to know the answer to too and and someone given a really good explanation – or if whatever I wanted to say has already been covered.

edmartin101's avatar

@peedub maybe not lurve karma but certainly lurve fever, it gets contagious if you just start the ball rolling and give here and there some compliments, it’s only natural you’ll get some in return without expecting it and in the end everybody benefits.
Like @niki mentioned it give it away…..... an analogy to that is a smile, it’s only good when you give it away, when you brighten someone else’s life and you never grow poor, so smile is contagious, makes others feel great…........you made my day, someone will say!!

I find clicking “Great Answer” easier but (because of that, I guess) I appreciate it more when someone spells it out to me than when they click the thing below.

Though then again, for polling questions like this one it’s probably better to click the thing, because I stop following them after I’ve answered.

scamp's avatar

I gave some lurve to everyone in this thread, but usually I do it for great answers or to show support for something a member says that agree with.

peedub's avatar

I’m crazy about lurving people

eambos's avatar

And people are crazy about lurving you, with your record breaking 2000 point time =p

peedub's avatar

Thanks Eams, can I call you that?

eambos's avatar

Lol, y not? I just use my first initial with my last name. My first name is Eric, but my stupid friends call me around 50 others names that don make sense. Eams makes a lot more sense than Craig or ritititties…

peedub's avatar

Eames makes the coolest furniture.

scamp's avatar

I want some more lurve!!!

eambos's avatar

oh yes, I can’t forget the strangest nickname- Yeric Ambrosini. You have to say it in a falsetto with a song song voice.

peedub's avatar

Oh yes, like The Darkness, “Get your hands off my womannnn Yeric Ambrosrosini…”

eambos's avatar

Never heard that before, but ok. I think I got the nae because my name is Eric Ambos and many times people pronounce my name “Ambrose.” this one lady had such a heavy accent thy it sounded like she had said “Yeric Ambrose,” so my friends adds the -ini on the end to make it sound a little funnier.

Edit: I do know that song! Maybe not that falsetto…

johnnyc299's avatar

please share the lurve. I am in desperate need….. Lurve is a great way to reward someone for taking the time to give a good answer.

Jbor's avatar

Not as desperate as I :-)
