What is the best way to clean an optical mouse?

I currently use a Microsoft Habu mouse, and feel there is dirt near the laser? How can I clean this while not damaging the product?

alternative ... find a qtip that doesn't have lots of lint on it, moisten with water (maybe alcohol) and wipe gently ... or don't moisten at all, if you don't feel like it ... I personally never really need to clean it, since I try to keep the desk clean ... if the desk is clean then there is nothing to pick up, right? ^_^
