Do you pay more for a black MacBook just because it is black?

So…I will soon be buying a MacBook. I like the 250GB HD on the black model. But, I can upgrade the HD on the white model with the 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo for only $100. According to my calculations….this is the same computer for $100 cheaper. Am I missing some difference in specs, or do they want me to pay $100 for the color?

the black mac book does have 90 gb more hard drive which means faster functioning, but the black material is more expensive to produce too.

Although the manufacture process for dulled plastic is a little more expensive, it is essentially nominal when produced in such a high quantity.

The black MacBook design is supposed to denote the higher end product, but it is only ever so slightly better, and in aspects that can be upgraded.

Apple are making a rather incredible markup on the black MacBook, so if you don’t feel like spending more money on a plastic finish, then buy the white MacBook and upgrade the disc.

@katy: The drive is not any faster – it is exactly the same spin speed. It’s just a higher capacity model.
