Problems with Fios and Xbox Live?

SInce I’ve switched from Comcast to Verizon Fios I’ve been unable to connect to certain friends. I cannot join a game they’re hosting, or connect to them through chat. Has anyone else experienced a problem like this with fios? (btw, this is through a regular router and not wireless)
