How do I stop the ratings field from constantly appearing in iTunes?

No matter how many times I uncheck the ratings box in the iTunes options, every day it comes back. I never use the ratings, ever. I’d rather see my track numbers, last played, and play counts.

View -> View Options, uncheck it.

Make sure you are on the library when you do so. I think that different playlists can have their own display options.
