Any tricks for keeping/getting cat hair off of my clothes?

I just use tape to get it off (from my pup) and put plastic over all your clothes like my Italian Grandmothers home to keep it off.

this is what I do, since my babies are orange and my favorite color is black:

My clothes are kept in a cat-free closet. When I do my laundry, I use 3 dryer sheets per load. When it’s done drying, I put it directly into a laundry bag (not basket) and bring it upstairs. I put it on a chair next to a TV table next to the closet door. I then strip down to my underwear, hang/fold it all, and place it directly in the drawers/on the hangers. It should already be hair-free from the dryer sheets, and then I fold it with just underwear so no hair can transfer from me to the clean clothes.

When I get dressed, it’s the last thing I do. I put my bag/purse/shoes/whatever right by the door, do the shower/hair/makeup/whatever thing… go to the closet, get dressed, walk straight to the door, and leave. I have a little lint brush in my work bag for stray hairs.

It works for me, and one of my cats is (obviously) very poofy and they both shed a lot.

Damn poof, that’s a lot of work, but I bet it works. Right now I don’t have an extra closet, but if I ever do, I’ll try that.

When you want to get pet hair off of a soft surface put on a pair of rubber gloves and rub your hands over the surface, hair comes up no problem.

i use my cat/dog hair as an accessory. I never leave home without some.

@Tiny: really, the key is just the extra dryer sheets, folding in your underwear (or naked), making sure it touches only surfaces that don’t have cat hair (like a TV table to fold on), and putting them right into a drawer, closet, bin, wherever you keep them… as quick as possible. It sounds like a lot but it’s not. Dry, strip, fold, store. LOL

That seems like way too much work letting a cat dictate your life like that. You must be very attched to your pets! They are lucky to have you.

@basp: they don’t dicate my life! I just altered my routines… it’s not a big deal, if you think about it. They actually forced me to have better habits: folding my laundry as soon as it comes out of the dryer and putting it away immediately… keeps it wrinkle free and everything is neat.. no procrastinating! Then getting dressed right before I leave is no big deal… more time to sit around in my pajamas! The only weird thing is folding clothes half-naked.

Too cute. But I can’t reason spending $500 plus on an animal when there are so many that need homes. They look soft, but not furry. I like furry.

Actually, sphynx cats are just about the most loving of cat breeds. They are soft and warmer than other breeds. You just have to make sure that they don’t get to cold.

I didn’t mean to sound like I was picking on you…if your routine works for you and your cat that is all that matters.

I have a rubber toothed brush that I found at Target. Not only does it work getting cat hair off stuff, but the cat likes to be brushed with it as well. It also helps to groom your cat with a damp chamois. after brushing, just rub the cat with it and it will pull off any hair the brush missed.

Poof, I wish I could have a cat proof closet. I’d have to turn them into safes and put armed guards and combination locks (and alarm them) to keep my cat out. I have Russian Blues, though and they don’t really shed a great deal, unless of course you take them to the vet. Then they deposit all possible hair on me while I’m sitting there waiting. Needless to say, I wear the crummiest clothes I can to the vet.

Have you tried a furminator yet? It’s a specially designed comb that pulls out astonishing amounts of hair. It cuts down on the hair in my house dramatically.

Mookie tries very hard to get in, and sometimes she does, but she scurries immediately to the far corner with the shoes because she knows I’m coming after her. But she doesn’t touch anything except shoes, so I still say it’s cat free.

A rubba scrubba works great, it maybe similar to what seesul found at Target.
