When does the traffic start getting bad heading into SF from the East Bay on a Saturday evening?

I’m headed into the City. Is there a critical moment I should aim to beat? 5? 6? 6:15? not bad until 7? I have no idea when it starts.

By the way, I know about 511.org (awesome site), but it seems to only have real-time traffic, not general patterns. If you’ve found something like that, that’d be cool to know about.

Weekend traffic depends more on sporting events, concerts and other things going on in the city. It varies of course. Quite often I have left Contra Costa County on Saturday about 5 and barely touched the brake until the 9th Street exit. If the Giants are playing a big night game you might not want to hit the bridge between 5 and 8.
