What's up with MLB game starting times?

Game 1 of the World Series is schedule to start at 8:35pm ET.

Game 2 is scheduled to start at 8:29pm ET.

Why so specific? Why not start on the hour or half-hour like everything else?

My guess is to accomodate the TV networks.

It’s a great question.
My sense is that the TV networks worked around the start time, not the other way around. I followed nearly every game this season. But I don’t really know the answer.

I don’t get it ether. It’s not like they even have the first pitch at that time.

Anyway, all the really matters in the Phils are gonna tear it up.
