Why isn't Fluther updated in realtime?

It is not possible? Not optimal?
I think it could be helpful.

By this I mean the front page.

I spoke to Andrew about this a while ago, and it wasn’t on the cards then and I don’t imagine it is now.

Two reasons:
– Expensive! Fluther is busy enough as it is, and the servers operate within a hairline of capacity. There’s other features coming that warrant putting more money into hosting, but continually polling for new questions on the front page isn’t necessary enough yet.
– Not really needed. There’s a new question maybe every 15 minutes or so, which doesn’t really warrant a check every few seconds.
