Have you looked up towards the SSW near the horizon tonight?

I haven’t, but I will once the sun fades in a few hours. And we have clears skies so I might dig out the binoculars.

You need only moderate magnification and a wider field of view than for birding or sporting events. Try resting your wrists on a railing or top of car or open window to keep the wobble down. Later on tonight, look at the sword and belt of Orion with the binocs.

Long Island has too much light pollution. I can’t wait until I’m up in the mountains next month; the skies are always so amazing.

Rats! I just went for a walk, clear all day but clouded over this evening. Zero visibilty. There is always tommorrow night. :0)

Saw Orion’s Belt and the beautiful elusive Pleiades last night between the high rushing clouds.
