How do I get more traffic to my blog and website?

Asked by heathers (1 points) | asked September 4th, 2007 | 7 responses | “Great Question” (0 points) | Flag as…

I own a Pilates studio and I just started a blog about Pilates. I’d like to know if anyone out there has some tips on how to drive more traffic to my blog and website. The website is www.709core.com. The blog is www.709core.blogspot.com

Any help appreciated!

I would start out by buying a few targeted keywords through Google AdSense. You should also try to get your site linked on other sites…I would advise you to not “spam” sites like this one or other forums with your web site. Google is smart enough to recognize such spamming and can even blacklist your site from their listings.

You should also try Feedburner

Add good content, comment on similar websites (show that you have knowledge about the subject) with a link to your own site (most sites allow you to add a URL to your comment), link to websites of interest to your visitors in a blog post, they might link back to you. So, bottom line: try to find people that might be interested in your blog.

Any easy (and free) way is to make sure you’re “pinging” Technorati when you publish. That is, “telling” them whenever you publish something. Here’s where you can do that: http://technorati.com/ping/

You need to audit your site. Create Title tags, descriptions, keywords, etc. Redirect http://www.709core.com/index.html to http://www.709core.com/. You don’t have a blog section so I don’t know why these guys above are talking about technorati. The site needs a complete audit/overhaul. I’d reference this article by Matt McGee to get you started. http://www.smallbusinesssem.com/2007/06/19/how-to-seo-your-site-in-less-than-60-minutes/

Here is a free Internet marketing report about your specific website. it tells you a number of the mistakes you currently are making.

From a high level perspective, I would focus on creating good, useful compelling content for your website and then promoting that content as much as possible. Some ideas:

1) Search Engine Optimization – set up your website and have good compelling content so you start to get found by the right people in search engines
2) Blogging – talk about the industry (NOT your website) and add value to your community to attract a following
3) Social media – get the word out using websites like Facebook, Digg, Reddit, and more

Use the report that I linked to up top from http://www.WebsiteGrader.com to get started. Also read this Internet Marketing Blog for more free tips.
