Has anyone been to The Coachella Music Festival?

Just got an invite to go to the Coachella Music Festival with some friends that live out there. We already have tickets as they work for a sponsor and they have rooms booked at a hotel. I’ve never been, have you?
Can you give me any insight, advice, survival tactics? I understand that it’s crazy crowded; is it unbearable? I’m looking for any & all insight. I’ve been to the HFestival many times; is it similar?

GO!!!! My best advice would be to look at the lineup and plan out what you want to see beforehand. You may change your mind, but having priorities will make sure you don’t end up missing what you really want to see. And see the smaller side acts too!

I went 2 years ago (the year that Rage headlined). Was a great experience, but the heat just about wiped me out (I’m from Canada – not used to 110 degree weather). Just drink lots of water and make sure you check out a lot of bands – I always discover fantastic new music at festivals. Everything was well organized inside the venue and the crowds were not bad at all (Lollapolooza is much more crowded). My only bad experience was with the campground, but since you have hotel rooms you should be good.
