How can I burn this file to a dvd for viewing?

Okay, I have a movie file, it is a back up, and I want to burn it onto a dvd. It is saved as an .avi with xvid.
I am running on windows XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just need to know how to convert the file to a usable format.

Looks like that will help a great deal.

Try just burning it as a data disk. My shitty 30$ DVD player will list all the files on the disk. It plays mpg and avi files just fine. You might not need to convert.

On Windows I like deepburner.

I linked to the actual download since it is kinda a bitch to get from the main page to the free version.

Here’s what I use.

I use DVD flick all the time and love it. The only downside is that it will take you a hell of a long time to convert unless you have a good CPU.
