Can I recover a lost FileMaker Pro account password on my own?

I have a 5 year old database I forgot about, but I need access to it now. I locked it with a password, and I have forgotten it. I see there are online solutions, and software I could purchase, but is there a way I can get into the code and find it myself?

As I recall, you can contact Filemaker Inc. They will confirm you’re the owner and break the password. I called them to get this started for my client. I almost had to do this many years ago but can’t recall why I didn’t need them.
