What song do you think best represents the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald?

Um, isn’t that the only song about the wreck? (And thanks, now I have another song stuck in my head!)

Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys really addresses the sinking of a Great Lakes cargo ship.

I know I could look this up, but I’m too lazy to, but I had heard that song (or parts of it) was written before the wreck. Probably urban legend.

I’m going to have to go with “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” by Gordon Lightfoot.

Ok, I looked it up. Ship sank before the song was written, so it was an ugly rumor.

I always enjoyed singing The lyrics from Stairway to Heaven to the tune of The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

That song always brings a tear to my eye. I love Gordon Lightfoot, he has some good songs. This is one I’ve always liked, too.

I’ve been raised with that man’s music in the house, nothing beats these for me.

Except for maybe Carefree Highway.
