Does any one dream about dead relatives?

Ok I know that’s a wide open question so I’ll be more specific. My grandfather died 4 years ago. I have dreams with him in there, every so often. But he never says anything…he just smiles and is more or less in the background of things. I told this to my sister, and she said the exact same thing happens to her. It is so sad and so nice at the same time…I’m welling up as we speak.
Anyways, just wanted to know if this happens to anyone else, because when i wake up from these dreams, there isnt a more bittersweet feeling int the world.

No, but I had a a premonition or dream of the death of both of my parents that materialized.

Come to think of it, after my parents died, and living in my parents home alone, my grandfather died and some really weird stuff happened thereafter. However, another person would interpret or perceive it as coincidence or nothing, I took it as his signs he was leaving.
Yes, I think your grandfather is probably telling you he is alright and he loves you both and not to worry.

I wrote about this in another post, but now I can’t find it.

I dream about my dead cousin a lot. He died a little over 2 years ago in a car accident. We were the same age (17 at the time).

My other cousins often dream about him too, but in their dreams he comes to say goodbye. He hasn’t really said goodbye to me yet.

In life he was a jokester. So in my dreams sometimes he’ll come back and it will all have just been a big joke. Ha. Not so funny. He’ll just pop out in a department store or something and scare us shitless.

In other dreams he’ll be preparing for the accident—putting on football gear and such. I’ll tell him he should just drive slower and safer and he’ll tell me he can’t.

And in almost all the dreams I have about him he and my current boyfriend or past boyfriends or some significant boy in my life will morph in and out of each other. This, to me is very symbolic. And, of course when I wake up I’m totally flipped out.

It definitely is bittersweet—getting to see him again, but then of course waking up to reality and realizing that it was, in fact, just a dream.

Many have claimed to have had this happen to them. I believe in many things and I think it was your grandfather telling you he’s okay just like what Garebo said.

Yes, I have dreamed on many occasions of my dead father and, he too, is in the background.
One dream was of him in the surgery that could have saved him if it had been in existence at the time of his death. Very real dreams.

RARELY but occasionally I’ll dream about my father. (Of course I seldom remember my dreams no matter what they’re about which probably makes it more rare!) They’re not generally bittersweet though… Honestly they’re usually kind of unsettling or upsetting. I had one that really freaked me out a few years after he died where he’d forgotten how old I was and asked me to tell him if the next time I saw him was “on the other side.” Don’t know how to interpret that!

It would seem like a message that your grandfather is watching over the two of you.

I dreamed of my sister once after she died. It was very comforting to me.

All these responses are terrific, and I appreciate it.

@fireinthepriory: I’m not sure how to interpret that either!

It’s like a brick in the face when you wake up, like most dreams usually are.

There are dead people I wish I would dream about, and dead people I dream about that I wish I wouldn’t.

I have awaken from sleep to see a dear friend of mine standing at my door not even a week after he passed. I think that it was reassurance that he was still watching over me as well as his loved ones. Kinda freaked me out though….

sometimes, not much though. I think I dreamt of my grandfather recently.

I had this really nice dream once with my aunt. She was driving my car and going like crazy and having fun. she was always a reserved and quiet person in her life, typical rural housewife stuck in a kitchen. So it was nice to see her having a wild time for a change. And I guess driving recklessly when you’re already dead can’t be all that dangerous.

I hadn’t until about a month ago. My grandmother passed away some 11 years ago and I never had a dream about her. Then one night recently she was there in my dream, just her and I. She stood in front of me smiling for a while and then we embraced and she told me everything would be just fine. I remember pulling her closer to me as we hugged and it was like she wasn’t physically whole, almost a little transparent. It was so strange and wonderful, certainly unlike any other dream I’ve ever had. I strongly feel she was finally letting me know that she is still here with us.

After my Grandad died at home everyone said gudbye by givin him a kiss on the cheek but at the time i was unable to do this. then a couple of weeks later he appeared in my dream and i kissed him on the cheek. Also in this dream he spoke to each person in my family individually (in the front garden) after he did we all went through the back gate, and i was the last to shut it before i did i looked around and he had gone.
