Is there a cheaper alternative to Spanx?

I’m going to a wedding and have a kind of clingy dress. A friend recommended Spanx as a tummy-control option. But they cost $68! which seems like a lot to pay for underwear. Is there a cheaper alternative? Last time I wore this dress, I cut the legs off of control-top pantyhose and just wore the control-top, but they kept riding up at the edges. I try to avoid wearing pantyhose if possible—too hot and itchy.

You don’t need to spend that on SPANX. There are a lot of other options out there.

Victoria’s Secret makes a control top hose that literally takes 5 pounds off. They got so many compliments on it, they cut out the hose part and just went for the “body shaper.” They’re about 20.00. Call the store before you go looking for one though – they come and go with the seasons.

There are a lot of good, inexpensive options here that may work- given how much total coverage you want.
