Have you tried out Mozilla's new browser, Flock?
They are calling it a “Social Web Browser”. I’m linked in with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, my email, my blog… It’s pretty cool.

IIRC it’s not all that new (it’s at least a year old I think, the last I checked it was a fork of Firefox 2.something).
Yes, it has been around for awhile. Firefox is open source software. Some developers took Firefox’s code and modified it to be more tied into social networks. If you spend a lot of time on social networks, I heard it is very good and makes your life easier.
i don’t think it’s new, i remember using it once in 2006. i do recall liking it a lot.

I never got into it, it’s a bit of a fringe browser. :)
The newest update came out in November. I don’t know if that’s more recent than you guys have seen.

I like it a lot and yes it is a fork of the firefox code.
@dearest_prudence – that means they took the code and developed it, while the original code was also developed. If you look at the time line, first you have one browser (Firefox), which then splits into two browsers (Firefox and Flock), which then looks like a fork-shape.
Also, Flock is not produced by Mozilla (governed, I should say, as Mozilla also only 40% of Firefox’s code…).
I don’t care for it, Firefox will always be number one in my eyes. I couldn’t survive without my add-ons…

It’s some years old, it’s not developed by Mozilla and yes i’ve tried it.
There, i broke your heart.
Why do you all say it’s not developed by Mozilla? On the Flock homepage, it says “Powered by Mozilla.” Is that not the same thing?
And I respectfully remove the word “new” from my question going forward. Now, can we get back to whether you guys like it or not and move away from semantics?
Firefox is open source so the code is open to the public. So they (as in the developers behind Flock) built upon Mozilla’s code, but they developed Flock, not Mozilla.
I heard about it a long time ago but I honestly wasn’t interested in really trying it.
Exactly, the Flock developers took Firefox and added some features. It’s based on firefox, but mozilla didn’t develop anything else than the firefox part. It’s like when those guys buy new cars, strip them, rebuild them and sell them for a higher price. It may be based on a Mercedes, but it’s not built by Mercedes.
@drClaw, @dearest_prudence You can still use many Firefox addons with Flock. Some will not work but I haven’t run into those yet.
I recommend giving it a go just to see what alternatives are out there.
“Powered by Mozilla”, using a lot of code Mozilla wrote. There’s no “Powered by Mozilla” on Firefox’s homepage, is there? ;-)
But anyway, to honour your request: no, I haven’t tried it. The reason is simple: it seems to support a few social websites, many of which I don’t use, so it would only be of marginal benefit to me. That’s why I prefer to install add-ons for the sites I do use and not have my browser slowed down by stuff I don’t use.
@anthelios77 I have used it before, but i didn’t see the value in switching to it. I use upwards of 25 add-ons everyday, most of which didn’t seem to work with Flock (SEO for Firefox, mozBar, refSpoof, the all important Grease Monkey, etc.) and even if they did work properly Flock still doesn’t offer the user anything very innovative. Not to mention it seemed to be quite slow when compared side by side to Firefox.
@essieness If your curious, just give it a try and delete it when your done. It shouldn’t interfere with your existing browsers and is worth giving a shot.
@drClaw I see. That is a lot of add-ons! :) Flock and Fx seem to run about the same, which is a bit slow, on my system but I don’t mind. And I use quite a bit of the extras that Flock brings so it works out well for me. Well at least till Ma.gnolia went down, have to use Delicious now for my bookmarks.
What sort of add ons are you guys using? I haven’t used many, so I guess it isn’t important to me to stick with Firefox.

I tried it, and I sort of liked how things were integrated into it, but I like my browser to be simple and I use other applications for twitter, and I just go to FB to read up on stuff. It might be awesome for some, but it wasn’t my fave.
