Why won't my laptop's AirPort turn on?

I’m trying to turn on the AirPort on my laptop so I can access wireless in my school’s computer lab, but no matter how many times I click “Turn Airport On,” it won’t change. Any idea how to do this?

had the same problem, added a new airport interface in the network configuration screen (just press the little plus below the list), that did the trick for me anyway, good luck

Well, you have to select a network as well. Have you selected the school’s network?

no it’s not that, the airport just stays on “off” even though you tell it to turn on, i’m really not sure why it does that, probably a bug.
